A clearly defined area on the right of the scenic road, well beyond the tar section, with an accurate wind reading facility made possible by iweathar streamers and benches for spectators. Please confine your preparations to the area demarcated by the yellow rocks and adhere to the site rules in order to help us maintain our right to flight on this magnificent site. Wind: S-SE Alt: 180m ASL Airspace Ceiling: 2300m ASL Please DO NOT land on the golf course or the centre of the cricket pitch! The school and the rugby fields closer to the ridge are allowed, but do beware of wind-shear from high trees close to the ground. It is also possible to slope-land at the base of the ridge, and look out for the telephone lines strung along a third of the way up the slope. Top landing back on take off is allowed when safe to do so, and ONLY between the yellow markers, otherwise anywhere North of the road. Please mind our iweathar station! Take the N2 towards Caledon. After Sir Lowry's Pass, and Houwhoek, you will descend the Houwhoek Pass and see the rolling hills before Caledon. Turn left off the N2 on the R43, signposted 'Hermanus'. Look for the Engen garage at the Sandbaai intersection, from here travel 1.5km, take the second left at the white pillars which are marked 'Rotary Way, scenic route'. Follow the road for bang on 5km. Takeoff will be on your right. PG: BASIC ----- HG: A PG: BASIC ----- HG: A

To the left of takeoff, at the end of the first unbroken section of the ridge, sits a white trig beacon. This point can produce some heavy turbulence. Be careful here, stay high or in front of the face. When top landing from the trig beacon direction, be careful of crossing the ridge too low, as the cliff edge produces strong rotor turbulence near the front of the ridge towards the takeoff site. Beware of a prevailing Easterly wind; it wraps deceptively up the takeoff site, but is in fact side-on to the ridge (from the left) and extremely turbulent and can push straight towards the high voltage power lines. Beware South-Westerlies, which can become very turbulent as well.
