You can get 5+ hour flying days here. Smooth buttery coastal air. You will regularly see dolphins, seals, surfers, golfers, crows, seagulls, red tail Hawks and pelicans. On site cafe food is awesome! Store is stocked full of inventory: gliders (new, used, demo), harnesses, reserves, etc...

Large grassy slope. Launching between orange cones are the safest and recommended areas. There are rotors in other areas outside the cones that are effected with cross winds conditions. Ask a local pilot if you are not sure. Top landing where you take off, blow whistle on final approach to alert pilots on ground to lower wing or not bring up wing for a clear safe LZ. Please take note of Windsocks so you land into the wind. BEACH LANDINGS- Beach landing tend to not have much wind. There are trails South and north of the launch area. Easiest trail is just south of launch. There is another trail by the north face steeper no stairs. Directions from Interstate 5 Exit Genesse Ave. Go West up hill - 4th stop light make a left (south) on North Torrey Pines Road. 2nd Stoplight (Salk Institute) make a right (Torrey Pines Scenic Drive) Take to the end, park in the dirt parking lot. *Current P3/H4 rating or above USHPA membership. Card must be shown in office and a yearly waiver must be filled out. *If you are a P2 or P1, you can sign up for a day lesson and kite/fly with an instructor on radio. *sign in daily before flying. Helmet, whistle and reserve parachute required *window rules when RC planes are flying* (These apply in a certain area from launch to the north face. The are flags making this area) 1. Only one glider flying in the window at a time and no turning in window. 2. Once window is empty of gliders, blow your whistles and yell 'launching North or South' this alerts the rc plane pilots. 3. Toot your whistle like a sonar as you fly through. 4. when you want to cross the window to either the north or South, enter when empty and blow whistle like a sonar until you exit the other side. 5. Landings- TOP LANDING: when window is clear you may enter from North or South toot your whistle and yell 'landing' alerting the pilots on the ground to bring down wind or Not bring up their wing allowing an open landing field. When there are no RC planes the window is open for all gliders, but launch and landing rules still apply at all times. Be courteous of others trying to launch. Right of way rules apply. ALL tandem instructional flights must be cleared by the Flight Director *Current P3/H4 rating or above USHPA membership.
